Fontys Rachelsmolen University of Applied Sciences, Eindhoven (NL)

Eindhoven is home of a new and beautiful educational building. For Fontys University of Applied Sciences, Rachelsmolen campus, Ector Hoogstad Architects designed a sustainable building with a strong character of its own. Platowood Spruce is mounted on the facades by means of prefab frames.

A special profile has been developed for this project: An extra wide channel siding with a false rebate. The cladding boards have been quickly and optimally cut in-house, mounted on racks and delivered to the job site by Maas Reusel. This enabled ZND Nedicom, a specialist in roofing and cladding, to cover the facades at a very high speed.

Wilgard Daris, General Manager ZND Nedicom:

The collaboration with Maas Reusel and Platowood went flawlessly. A deal is a deal and the result speaks for itself.

Sustainable and circular design

Platowood’s hydro-thermal modification process (Platonisation) only uses water and heat. Fast-growing wood species are modified into high-quality wood products with a long lifespan. The application of Platowood fits in perfectly with the sustainable and circular design objective of this project.
