The one-layer finish Natural Color Oil and Burned Wood Oil becomes a two-layer finish. This enhanced variant requires less maintenance and provides a more intense color.
The finish consists of a Sunprimer and a layer of oil:
- Natural Color Oil + Sunprimer - for retaining the natural look of wood
- Burned Wood Oil + Sunprimer - for a dark, sleek look
The water-based Sunprimer is a one-time pretreatment and provides extra pigmentation. The oil layer is applied on top of that. The result is a finish with a higher color retention and an extended maintenance interval.
Both oil and Sunprimer are from the brand Rubio Monocoat.
This finish is suitable for Platowood Fraké and Platowood Spruce. Have a look at the colors below.

Maintenance interval
The Sunprimer requires no maintenance, only the oil layer. The advice is:
- Natural Color Oil: first maintenance after 2 years, then a 3 year interval
With oil layer only: 6 months, then each 1-2 years - Burned Wood Oil: first maintenance after 3 years, then a 5 year interval
With oil layer only: 6 months, then each 1-2 years
Color degradation depends on environmental conditions, climate and correctness of assembly. Mentioned maintenance intervals are indicative.
Availability and price
As of September this year the two-layer finish Natural Color Oil and Burned Wood Oil is our new standard. But, you can already order it! Because the wood will be finished on three sides instead of four, the price stays as it is. A four-sided finish is possible on request.
