Republiek Bloemendaal
Bloemendaal aan Zee

Blending into nature—that was the starting point for the design of Republiek Bloemendaal. For 17 years, this well-known beach pavilion was rebuilt each spring and dismantled in autumn. When the owners received permission to construct a permanent location, they chose the sustainable and low-maintenance wood from Platowood. The entire façade of the new, permanent pavilion is clad in Platowood Fraké.

Natural colours and materials

The building was designed by HeikoHulsker architects, with the interior by Anne Claus Interiors. From the outset, they collaborated closely to ensure a seamless transition between interior and exterior. A key design principle was to make the building harmonise with its surroundings. This is evident in the choice of colours and the Platowood timber façade. The Fraké wood was used untreated, allowing it to weather quickly into a silver-grey tone under the influence of sun and sea.
