Updating a 1950s home to meet modern living standards—without demolition. That was the goal behind this project, developed by Space Encounters and Studio Vincent Architecture. The new residents wanted a renovation and expansion that would preserve the original character. A sustainable vision we wholeheartedly support—and one that explains the choice for Platowood Fraké window, frame, and door wood.

Architect Vincent van Leeuwen:

”We used Platowood frames to strengthen the home’s relationship with its surroundings. Thanks to the aesthetic quality and natural appearance of the wood, it fits beautifully into the design and the villa’s location—nestled between coastal dunes, a pine forest, and the open polder landscape.”

The new design merges cultural heritage, sustainable transformation, and environmental context. The curved veranda extension opens the home toward the garden and forms a seamless transition between indoors and outdoors, enhancing the experience of living in the woods. The sustainable Platowood frames surround large window openings that flood the interior with light and frame views of the surroundings—as if you’re outside.
