In a tree-filled garden, a compact woodworking studio/garden house has been realized. Natural, sustainable, and low-maintenance materials were used, including window frames made of Platowood Fraké. The relationship with the garden was a key starting point for the design, created by Strategie Architecten. The garden house was literally built around a tree and elevated above ground level to avoid hindering the tree’s growth.

Large, natural window feature

The design emphasizes a large window opening that offers a view of the garden and main house. The Platowood Fraké frame wood was used untreated and requires no further finishing. Exposure to the elements will cause the wood to weather into a silver-grey tone. Aside from an annual cleaning, the frame wood is completely maintenance-free. The final touch of the design is the green sedum roof, which helps integrate the garden house into its natural surroundings.
