Beach pavilion Hargen
Hargen aan Zee

In the Schoorl Dunes, a Natura 2000 area, the 26-year-old Strand Pavilion Hargen has been beautifully renewed. The pavilion’s owners collaborated with contractor De Geus Bouw to refine the design by architect Koert Argeloo. For the window frames, the choice fell on sustainable frames made of Platowood Fraké. The terrace balustrade was also finished with matching Platowood Fraké cladding.

Owner Olly Oldenburg:

“We were looking for untreated frames since we wanted to minimize maintenance. The contractor recommended frames made from Platowood Fraké wood. We really liked the way the wood naturally weathers over time, so we chose it. We’ve received a lot of positive feedback. It looks great and weathers beautifully.”

Architect Koert Argeloo:

“I’ve been specifying Platowood since 2004—it’s a beautiful material. I believe it’s important that wood is sustainable and comes from certified forests. For the beach pavilion, wood was a harchoice due to its look and feel, which fits perfectly with the surroundings.”
