The client of this future-proof home in the unique Oosterwold district of Almere wanted to build a house using sustainable and healthy materials. The exterior finish of the taller sections is lime plaster, while the lower areas are clad with façade elements made from Platowood Fraké. By using narrow vertical boards (90 mm), the curved shapes are followed beautifully and fluidly.
Architect Erik Knippers: “Platowood Fraké creates a sleek appearance without knots. This allows the curved forms of the building to take centre stage. The long lifespan of the wood, its natural weathering, and the environmentally friendly process were key reasons for me to choose Platowood. I enjoy working with Fraké because of its warm colour and calm grain. The client is very pleased — the look of the rounded elements turned out exactly as we envisioned.”
